Barranquilla's Customs

Panoramic of Barranquilla

We consulted with several people in the streets of the city of Barranquilla about their customs and these are the results we have obtained.
For example, questions like: How is the greeting of the people in Barranquilla? respondents replied as follows:
1 - Quiubo (What's up?)
2 - Hey, everything's ok?
3 - what else?
4 - "Aja y tú que ve?"

Or questions like: What is the traditional dish of Barranquilla? in which many people responded
People like to have lunch rice with some kind of meat, fish or soup, too much cassava and potato etc. In short, in Barranquilla is eaten many meals, however the most common dish is "Arroz de liza." To which I asked, how is it prepared?
"Liza's Rice"
The best answer was:
- The water where the fish was cooked strain and add the stew, the rice, oil. we mix all the ingredients, let dry it  and it's  ready to eat.

Our next question was: How's the people from Barranquilla visiting someone else? and they said:
- If the person is trusty comes into and greets everyone
even gets into the rooms and greets all who are there. If the person is not trusty,  does not usually move from the living room.  in a nutshell is a charismatic greeting!

Shopping Mall

Our next and last question is usually common among women but today we could say that the percentage of buyers is 50/50.
How is the people buying in Barranquilla?, What's their actitud at the moment of buying?

Surprisingly this was the response more controversy and also the most accurate but in many cases all respondents concluded at the same point and this was:
- Well, people gets into a outlet store, sees what he or she likes, then asks to the seller how much it costs and finally asks for discounts.

To finish this survey, the people of this beautiful city says:

English makes you successful!

Any day, these guys recent graduated without knowing what to do. Worried because they didn’t know what to study, they asked themselves if they studied English. Or better why not bilingual administrative assistant? It would be more complete, because besides learning English, we would learn commercial subjects such as Math, Business English, Administration, Law, Typing, Accounting and many others. They would successful because They would know one of the most essential languages in the world: English.

Margui and Leo are 23 and 20 year-old students at the Bilingual Administrative Assistant program at the Centro Cultural Colombo Americano in Barranquilla, Colombia.

They started that program in February 8, 2011. Margui and Leo have been learning and improving their English attending the conversation club, using the tools that the teacher and the Colombo offer them, such as computer software, presentations, and talking with foreign teachers; but over all using English in their own lives.

The last time they spoke to a native English speaker was at the Centro Cultural Colombo Americano when a guest from United Kingdom went to visit to them and talked about different topics.

Margui and Leo have considered traveling to United States or another English speaking country like The United Kingdom or Australia to learn idiomatical expressions and practice in a company or corporation advanced English.

Since they started the program they have gone through different activities to improve their English, and for them "Role Playing," is the best activity to practice in class because they learn vocabulary and build a good pronunciation pattern.
These guys besides listening to music in English, watch some TV shows and movies in English and they also practice their English talking with virtual foreign friends.

Margui and Leo, hope to apply their knowledge of English everywhere, in their job or vacations. Finally they say that learning English has opened many doors in their lives so far.

The Best option!
